Vacuum bag leaking
hi!
i have just finished the shaping of the bottom of the board, and i am ready to vacuum the sandwich pvc foam.
my problem is that i cannot make the connect of the vacuum port air tight, it is leaking a lot.
any tips for this??
i have brought a vacuum port from fibermax composites. see picture
salut!

Re: Vacuum bag leaking
hello , if you want an air tight vacuum bag you can check these few things:
- is the bag sealed correctly ?I personally use some "sealtex" tape , it's a kind of paste, but like a roll of tape , and it's very sticky it is made to seal the bag
-if the air leak is coming from the connection between the tube and the bag , you have two options :
the fist option is to simply put the tube in the side of the vacuum bag with some "sealtex" around it to make it air tight:
it means that you have to put the tube in the bag at the same time that you close it. (this is what i do, and because of that, i dont even use a vacuum port, just some pieces of breather wrapped around the top of the tube, so that the bag doesn't sticks to the opening of the tube)
the second option is to keep your vacuum port but making it air tight with some sealtex around it , or else try to find the right O-ring that goes on your vacuum port, making it efficiently air tight

Thanks for the response! Think i will try with vacuum-tape om the vacuum port, and if that does not work I will try your method with the tube and breather fabric
